Rally For The POST Act This Friday!

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Friend,

S.T.O.P., fellow civil rights groups, and elected officials will hold a rally and press conference this Friday, December 15th at 12 PM EST in City Hall Park to demand transparency from the NYPD. The event comes after NYPD has failed to show up not once—not twice—but three times to the New York City Council’s hearing on the Public Oversight of Surveillance Technology (POST) Act, which requires the NYPD to disclose its surveillance technologies.

The hearing has been rescheduled to this Friday at 1 PM EST, and we’re rallying beforehand whether or not NYPD decides to attend! No government agency is above the law, and NYPD’s repeated failures to attend show just how little the department cares about transparency and accountability.

RSVP here to join us this Friday to condemn NYPD’s repeated violations of the POST Act and demand they finally comply with the law. We’re demanding the City Council not only strengthen the POST Act, but also go further by outlawing the most abusive forms of surveillance, including facial recognition and drones.

Can’t make it? You can also support S.T.O.P.’s fight against mass surveillance by donating this end of year. Your support will go 5x as far thanks to a generous donor! Any first-time donors who give over $20 will receive a special thank-you gift, and any new monthly donors who give over $15 get a special limited-time gift.
Make your impact today!
With thanks,
Will Owen
Communications Director
