Darío Maestro - Senior legal Fellow

Darío Maestro is a senior legal fellow at the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), where he principally focuses on privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and technology issues. He directs STOP's campaigns on artificial intelligence, is the principal author of an upcoming report on regulatory mandates for AI audits, and has published dozens of blogs and op-eds on data privacy legislation, safe and nondiscriminatory AI, children's privacy, and consumer protection.

Prior to joining S.T.O.P., Darío worked as an international litigator at Covington & Burling LLP and Foley Hoag LLP, where he represented clients in public international law and commercial disputes. In his pro bono work, Darío has advocated for tenants in housing discrimination actions and argued genocide claims before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Darío holds an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School and a dual LL.B./B.A. in Law and Political Science from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
