STOP x RadTech: Combating the Digital Divide with Privacy-Preserving Public Broadband

In this session, we’ll examine the movement for privacy-preserving public broadband access. Millions of Americans have long lacked access to broadband internet, but COVID-19 has made this long-existing crisis only clearer. The internet, while always important, became even more of a necessity to attend school, work, apply for unemployment, and access essential public health information. Alarmingly, almost half of all low-income households do not have access to broadband internet, and disparities reflect wider racial inequities.

We'll be joined by Noel Hidalgo, H. Trostle, and Christopher Mitchell, who will discuss the current state of the digital divide and how we can advance the movement for public broadband forward.

Moderated by S.T.O.P.’s Albert Fox Cahn.
