ICE Surveillance 101

In our inaugural Power Down Surveillance webinar, the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project will share an overview of ICE’s rapidly expanding surveillance capabilities. ICE has long deployed invasive, undemocratic spyware against immigrant communities and activists; but passage of Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” has given the agency a multibillion-dollar slush fund to spend on new spyware.

From real-time facial recognition to iris scanning to 24/7 social media monitoring, we’ll discuss the technologies driving deportations and ICE’s crackdown on protesters and observers. Facilitated by S.T.O.P. Executive Director Michelle Dahl, this session is a “101” for individuals, activists, and civil society groups eager to learn more about ICE’s surveillance tactics—and what local lawmakers must do to protect our privacy and civil rights.
