S.T.O.P. Training: NYC Biometric Mapping

You might have seen the signs before: “Biometric identifier information collected at this location.” In grocery stores and arenas and retail shops, your biometric information is being collected all around New York City. These tools are inaccurate and biased. They put New Yorkers at risk of discrimination, erode civil liberties, and normalize pervasive monitoring that has no place in our city.

That’s why S.T.O.P. launched our Biometric Map, a community-sourced map of NYC businesses that are using facial recognition, palm scans, and more to collect biometric data.

On Wednesday, June 24th at 3pm EST, we’re hosting a Biometric Map Training on how to report these businesses on the map and join the fight against surveillance in New York City. Join us to learn about what you can do to hold businesses accountable, ban this technology, and fortify the right to privacy for all New Yorkers!
