S.T.O.P. Responds To NYC Council AI Hearing
(NEW YORK, NY, 10/5/2026) – Today, October 5th at 2 PM EST the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) will be available for comment in response to a hearing by the New York City Council Committee of the Whole about a legislative package to mitigate the risks posed by artificial intelligence in New York City. S.T.O.P. will provide testimony before the hearing, urging the Council to take further steps against the discriminatory impact of artificial intelligence in policing, hiring, and other sensitive, high-risk areas. The hearing comes amid growing national concern over the catastrophic risks of AI and reports of rogue AI agents targeting government databases.
