The Police’s Newest Way To Google You

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
Friend,

So many of us constantly search on Google without a second thought. But jarring new revelations show exactly how this allows police to search for us.

Recently unsealed court filings show police are using an invasive new tactic called “keyword warrants” to find every single person who searches for a certain keyword. This unconstitutional tactic allows police to potentially map out what books we’re buying, what demonstrations we’re attending, our political beliefs, our interests – and even what we’re simply curious about.

When private companies had this information, it was creepy. When police track our every search, it’s a potent danger to democracy. But we won’t let this continue… we’re going to outlaw it.

In the coming weeks we’ll be telling you more about our plan to enact the first keyword warrant ban in the country. This is just one way that the S.T.O.P.’s Privacy New York coalition will be transforming our state next year. Click here to find out about the full slate of bills we’ll pass with your help.

With thanks,
